Puffin Dive Centres' accommodation on or off site, offers the hallmark of quality and standard associated with Puffin Dive Centre services and products and is guaranteed to impress. In Oban, Puffin Dive Centre has a converted bungalow near the famous site of McCaigs tower. This houses up to 6 guests - a double, a twin and two single rooms, all well fitted out.
Accommodation is booked on a weeks stay basis.
The kitchen is fully fitted with the usual items including cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and toaster and all other kitchen necessities to make your self-catering stay enjoyable. A large breakfast bar and dining area with TV. Large Sitting room with TV locate on the back of the house with views of the garden - deer and red squirrel are common passers by!
The 2 bathrooms are fitted with shower unit, sink and toilet and an additional WC next to the twin room. A spacious garden extending to the back of the house allows for the summer night barbecue and there's enough parking for everyone. The house is set amongst three others in a little valley, high on the hill above Oban, the area is generally very safe although you should have your own insurance and lock the room and house on exit.
Wifi is provided at no extra cost. Each bedroom has fitted sheets and a duvet and two pillows. For long stay guests the bedding is changed frequently or on request. Your towel is on the bed. Please report any missing items on arrival as a charge may be made if these items are missing at the time of departure.
With the whole house centrally heated and double-glazed it's a very comfortable way to relax at the end of your day. For those who do not wish to cook Oban town centre is only a few minutes away with a variety of eating options from any of the local hotels to the plentiful supply of different take-aways around the town; many of which will deliver food or from which a taxi can collect and bring to the accommodation.
The low rate per person per night certainly adds up to value for money and you will be impressed by the standard. Self-catering suits a lot of divers whose diving/course schedules often do not fit in with the ideas of hotel or B and B's meal times.
As you would expect, this quality of accommodation at our very attractive prices is very popular with the diving fraternity. Therefore in order to avoid disappointment we recommend that you book your places as soon as you know your requirements.
RULES FOR YOUR STAY
For the comfort of all who stay in the house, the entire building is a Non Smoking area ensuring that everybody has the benefit of a smoke free atmosphere, and the house remains odour free and clean. You are welcome to smoke in the grounds; we would however appreciate your thoughtful disposal of cigarette litter in the bins provided. Pets are not allowed in the accommodation except by special arrangement.
Items from the house should not be removed from the house at any time, for example if you require a towel for the diving; we would appreciate it if you could provide your own for the purpose. The cost of your stay includes power, heat, light and hot water.
The accommodation will be clean and tidy upon your arrival and your help and cooperation in leaving it that Suilven living areaway on your departure will be greatly appreciated.
Guests at the house will be issued with a front door key and room key upon arrival at the centre, for which we require a £20.00 cash deposit, redeemable upon the safe return of the keys. There is NO suitable storage for diving equipment in the house, however, subject to availability with priority given to our guests, you may be able to use one of our changing rooms free of charge - subject to a separate key deposit.
RECYCLING
PDC cares for the environment and takes many steps to apply good practice. For customers it is their option to dispose of glass, bottles, etc. either at the Tesco or Moleigh Waste Site or place in a bag and leave a note for our cleaning staff on exit. (The option to take the bottles home may be preferable) In the past we have received requests to provide a facility at our Gallanach site however the site itself is free access with multiple bins and we have users (not even customers) dumping doggy bags, nappy packs and other items that we would prefer our staff not to have to handle. We also pay to have our waste dealt with and as we are holders of a waste disposal licence. This means we can have the privilege of delivering to the local tip our waste at £140 + vat per load! This "licence" allows us to take offensive smelling items on demand that have been left "for us" such as shellfish, discarded sea life & re-claimed items. Now we can go to the tip (at cost) when we believe it to be appropriate to reduce any odour rather than wait for a Wednesday bin man.
Any help you can give with this cause or our daily litter sweeps, monthly road patrols or general care will always be appreciated.
ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION
We also have available our waters edge accommodation at the Puffin Dive Centre site. This comprises three self-catering houses each accommodating up to seven people. Please refer to the separate brochure for details.
It is reasonably easy to find accommodation in Oban, however please keep in mind that Oban is a tourist town and there are some weeks during the year where there are simply no beds! Puffin Dive Centre is most willing to help any Puffin Dive Centre student or customer find accommodation or arrange it for you. There is accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets.
Moorings for customers are FREE! Your boat will be a lot safer on site with a staff presence on site 24 hours a day. Of course, all the normal Puffin Dive Centre services are available throughout the year from training, slipway, moorings, boating, expeditions, air, overnight repairs etc.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
On day of arrival check in time starts from 1600 hrs unless specific and special arrangements have been made PRIOR to arrival. Your co-operation is appreciated on check in allowing us time to service and prepare for your arrival.
THE DIVE CENTRE SHOP AND AIR
The dive shop is open all day, every day, at the times shown on the board outside of the shop. Diving Air is available from our self-service machine.

BOOKING
Booking can only be confirmed by a 50% deposit which is non-refundable. Balance eight weeks prior to occupation. Confirmation will be given to group leader.
Please note that Puffin Dive Centre reserves the right to charge a full fee cancellation rate for any booking cancelled within 21 days of the date you are due to arrive.
As the units are extremely popular early booking is recommended. All costs are included other than breakages costs, there are NO extras.
LATE ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
If your arrival is going to be later than 1700 hrs you must phone during the day prior to 1700 to make arrangements for your key collection and location. The accommodation is not staffed after these hours and you may be disappointed if you fail to take this important step. Guests who stay or leave their equipment after 0930 on the day of departure will be subject to a late exit charge as shown below.
POST CODE
The Post Code for Sat Nav etc. is PA34 5EA. Note that this is a different post code to the main PDC site. The house is situated on a private road and is the first house on the left. Car parking is to the side, in front on the gravel and at the front on the small tarmac area for this purpose.
