GENERAL OVERVIEW OFREPAIR QUALITY

The Repairs and Technical Department at Puffin Dive Centre covers a wide range of diving Equipment and diving related services. The obvious activities such as Regulator Repairs and Dry Suit Repairs have a dedicated technician overseeing this responsibility. The availability of a staff member for a specific area of responsibility is based on the frequency of transactions and is reflectedabove in the button choice. Expertise for a type of product is held bynominated individual(s) who specialises in the relevant skill. Obviously repairs can be assisted or carried out to a basic standard by most Puffin Dive Centre staff.

TRAINING OF STAFF QUALIFIED TO REPAIR

Generally all staff have received at least some additional Puffin Dive Centre training in the required area in addition to any vocational or formally certified training and at the very least have a full PDC "appreciation" of the subject. Staff who decide to continue developing expertise in a repair subject undergo an agreed form of training internship where their skills and certification to an agreed set and quantifiable standard.Throughout this time their activities are checked and overseen by a fully qualified technician. It is very similar to the old style "apprentice" schemes.

Whilst as a company we understand the need for "vocational" qualifications we note that very few surgeons and airline pilots operate on the strength of a NVQ award and feel that our customers continue to appreciate our requirements for solid quality. All repairs are Quality Checked before issue to the customer by a second staff member, who then "signs off" the task to an agreed checking standard.

WHAT IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY REPAIR?

If a customer has a query or fault with any of our work we will in the first instance make every effort to resolve the issue that the customer is not happy with whilst investigating the extent of difference of understanding. To avoid continuedconflict with understanding we require customers to put any difficulties experienced in writing. PDC is unusual in that we believe in stating up front our standards and our costs together with a full description.
