Key Deposits & Rules

Some General Information

Non Smoking

For the comfort of all who stay in the house, the entire building is a Non Smoking area ensuring that everybody has the benefit of a smoke free atmosphere, and the house remains odour free and clean. You are welcome to smoke in the grounds, we would however appreciate your thoughtful disposal of cigarette litter in the bins provided.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in the accommodation except by special arrangement. Items from the house should not be removed from the house at any time, for example if you require a towel for the pool, we would appreciate it if you could provide your own for the purpose.

The cost of your stay includes power, heat, light and hot water. The accommodation will be clean and tidy upon your arrival and your help and cooperation in leaving it that way on your departure will be greatly appreciated.

Transporting Kit To The Pier/Slipway

Transporting your equipment to the pontoon or pier head can be with your own vehicle however sensible parking after use is appreciated as this area is kept intentionally clear for emergency vehicles and surface trailer vessel fuelling. Please replace the general public sign that restricts access to the pier area immediately after access and after you exit.

Key Deposits & Losses

Guests at the house will be issued with a front door key and room key upon arrival at the centre, for which we require a 20.00 cash deposit, redeemable upon the safe return of the keys. The group organiser will normally collect and sign the terms for the keys. On departure unreported breakages and any losses will be charged to the card used to secure the booking and taken as a payment method at the time of booking. Occasionally items such as towels are 'accidentally' packed by forgetful guests - these are charged for automatically as it is assumed it has been a mistake that the individual guest would want to immediately correct. There is NO suitable storage for diving equipment in the house, however, subject to availability with priority given to our guests, you may be able to use one of our changing rooms free of charge - subject to a separate key deposit.

Recycling Policy & Procedure

Recycling is unfortunately not available on site due to the random nature of quantities and our intention not to have more bins than are absolutely necessary. Over the years individuals as guests or just visitors have seen fit to deposit fish material and clam shells and other highly odious material into the bins which as you can appreciate, especially in hot weather is not pleasant. We empty the bins frequently by paying a ton rate to the local authority AND take it to the tip ourselves - believe it or not we are required to have a license as conveyors of household and commercial waste, train staff for safety reasons how to carry and dump the waste while wearing suitable gloves, boots and fluoro jacket, then we have to sign for the contents dumped, haul it 8 miles to the tip and administer the transaction financially.

This process is expensive but preferable to offending our guests by rubbish having to remain for the weekly (fortnightly) collection by our local binmen. By dumping ourselves we can control the frequency.

The downside is recycling with this solution is not easy and staff here already have enough to do without spending yet more time on other guests waste. A suggestion is that Tesco's, a prime provider of the majority of the bottles that require recycling should receive back the bottles from the individuals with the need to recycle - Lo and Behold they already do this and can be reached 24 hours a day.

Extra pillows for our guests are available in most rooms either in the cupboards in each room or on the linen shelf.

The chalets are self catering and although small amounts of necessary late arrival items such as 2 or 3 spare rolls of toilet paper, washing up liquid, hand soap, towels for individuals, etc. the main provisions for self catering will be provided by the guests themselves.

Local Food Supplies

Tesco locally are open most nights until 2200 hours and open at 0800. Watch out for Scottish Bank Holidays and some Winter Sundays as they close at different times.
